I worked with Sam on a form entry in excel, which had relatively simple requirements, compared to examples I saw on Youtube, however Sam said it took him 23 hours to do the VBA code. I then requested to make some changes during the project and was willing to pay a little more, but he responded saying that those changed would require 40-50% more effort, suggesting about 11 more hours of work, for which he would charge $25-$30. Little did he know, I had a little bit of experience writing VBA for excel; what he claimed takes 11 hours only takes would have taken me 15 minutes. He realized he got caught and fixed it within a few minutes "for free".
