There are many trading software platforms available that allow the development of customised backtest studies, indicators and trading strategies such as:
- Sierra Chart (used by professional traders),
- MultiCharts,
- NinjaTrader,
- MT4 (used by many Forex Brokers), and
- Broker Specific APIs (e.g. Interactive Brokers' IBAPI, Bloomberg's BLPAPI).
However, most of these programming interfaces are very complex to code making automation out of reach for many traders.
